“The property had the potential to be a really amazing place to stay.”

We’ve come to porthtowan for years, and decided to stay here. On arrival the property appeared clean at a glance, barring the marks/scuffs to walls, and gaps between the laminate flooring in the kitchen. And the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. We’ve come to porthtowan for years, and decided to stay here. On arrival the property appeared clean at a glance, barring the marks/scuffs to walls, and gaps between the laminate flooring in the kitchen. And the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. However the smell on entering in the property was horrific, to the point we had all windows and doors open the full stay and had to buy air fresheners and room sprays to make it tolerable. The downstairs en-suite sink was blocked, the master en-suite shower head was Brocken and tied up with a cable tie, and the family bathroom shower wasn’t working at all. The fridge shelf was broken so when we put the milk I the full thing fell out. I would say there wasn’t enough comfy seating for the amount of people who can stay there, and the mattresses really do need changing as they were so uncomfortable, you could feel every spring in your back. The bedding was lovely and clean and the pillows and duvets were all nice. I will say the owner was excellent at responding to our emails and was great at keeping us updated on trying to get someone to the property to check our concerns. He also informed parts had been ordered for the showers that had broken. We managed to unblock the sink ourselves whilst there also. We are also aware that costal properties often get drains blocked due to the sand , however the smells whilst there was definitely more than sand. We were very disappointed with our stay, especially as porthtowan is our favourite place to come every year as a family. But the property has the potential to be perfect, with some time money and a good deep clean.
