“Immaculately clean and perfect location for our SW coast plans.”

Parking was perfect and flooring great for our dogs. I read previous reviews so was aware of the need to bring our own dishcloths etc. Observationally - the mattress in the 2nd bedroom is quite worn. The bathroom door needs adjusting to facilitate smoother open/close operation. The bathroom and shower are small - this was no problem for us but larger people might find it challenging. We were very happy with our choice of Swallow Cottage, it suited our needs well

“Really lovely property which is really conveniently located with Perranporth on your doorstep and easy drives to Newquay and Falmouth.”

The beds and sofas are very comfy and we were provided with everything we needed in the kitchen as well as the added bonus of Netflix on the TV. Only thing we would say is no freezer in the fridge although we managed okay without it. Would 100% recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday away with lovely scenery!

“Swallow cottage has lovely views over fields and is conveniently situated, however we felt it had been somewhat overstated and overpriced.”

Firstly the toilet and shower room is very small, the shower itself was very cramped and the door wouldn't shut properly. The main bulb in 2nd bedroom wasn't working, down to electrical fault as new bulb they left us didn't work. The patio area was just a fenced off bit yard which was bit dirty and full of cobwebs, not very nice to sit out. Outside the cottage can be dangerous for pets and young children, it was often quite a busy road and cars passed at excessive speed at times. There are roadblocks at certain times of day and Mum didn't feel safe to ride her mobility scooter down lanes for a wander. We chose this property due to 'all ground floor access' as Mum can't walk properly, but the front steps to cottage was very high for her to try get up without us helping. On good note the cottage was situated close to lovely beaches, was mostly clean, we had a nice welcome tray on arrival and the beds were very comfy. Also added benefit of Netflix and Wi-Fi. Please don't be offended but we do have a few suggestions if we may. I think the cottage would benefit from having a washing machine instead of dishwasher, as it would be more useful. Also a fridge with freezer box for ice and ice creams, especially as was very hot the 2 weeks we came. Also a 4 piece toaster instead of 2.. Just for convenience. Also it may be helpful to provide a little fairy washing liquid, scrubber, cloths, spray cleaner and tea towels as most Cottages do

“Lovely property which presented as clean and smelling fresh.”

It was a lovely bright cottage with some fantastic views across the fields. The cottage had a good selection of crockery and cooking pots and utensils although we did not cook as we enjoyed our Cornish pasties most days!! The beds were very comfortable and plenty of pillows which we did use as my husband needs to be propped upright at night (health condition). A great powerful shower with good temperature controls that were easy to use. Easy to put on the heating which we needed to do a couple of evenings due to it being a bit cooler but as our week went on the weather got better and warmer. Both our dogs felt at home instantly and although they wouldn’t use the courtyard for toilet business, we were able to just walk them down the lanes where there were grass verges that they were more than happy to use. It was an ideal location for the days out we wanted as we did not need to travel too far to visit places we wanted to visit. It was a great holiday, being in a comfortable cottage made it better and with great warm and sunny days, we chose a great week to be away.

“We had a lovely stay in Swallow Cottage- the perfect location for visiting all of our favourite places.”

The cottage was immaculately clean,with gorgeous comfy beds,easy to find, yet off the beaten track enough to be lovely and quiet. Theres a good dog friendly pub a short walk away offering yummy pub grub and a few yards further a fabulously well stocked shop. Would definitely stay again.

“Swallow cottage is a very comfortable place with lovely rural views and numerous bridlepaths/footpaths close by.”

The kitchen is well equipped, but a small freezer would be beneficial especially for food storage/ice packs for the cool bag. Cream tea and milk on arrival a nice touch, but handsoap would be welcome in the bathroom especially if you need the toilet on arrival and have not yet unpacked. The patio door difficult to open/close/lock, and an internal doormat would be beneficial. The shower door does not shut properly, but the shower is good. Having 2 bedrooms with king size beds was perfect for our situation. Information of local services would have been useful, but Google saved the day. Overall a good place to stay.

“Lovely weeks stay.”

Beautiful scenery lovely and quiet everything catered for.Only downside the mattresses on the single beds were uncomfortable, could do with changing the dishwasher for a washing machine, a fridge with a small freezer and iron and board. Other than that no other faults with property

“Lovely comfortable compact cottage.”

The patio is a real suntrap and we also made us of the barbecue and sat out at night under the moon! Glad for the addition of the microwave! Perranporth beach is fantastic, also Holy Well. Beautiful country side and local lanes full of flowers and pretty villages/hamlets. We had good weather and visited Lizard peninsula, Zennor, Lands End, Sennon Cove and Lamorna Cove. Had good meals in the local Inn and St. Agnes Hotel. The scones, jam and cream and milk were very welcome. Thankyou.

“We book as 2 adults for Swallow cottage as we were attending my sons wedding.”

At the last moment we had an additional 2 adults that were to stay 1 of them being the groom. Jodie & Garth accommodated for them without a problem, with single beds, extra towels etc. It totally removed all stress from us all. The cottage is clean, homely warm & everything is there even down to a spotlessly clean bbq. The location is brilliant for Newquay, Truro, Perranporth & many other costal towns. A lovely welcome hamper with scones, jam & clotted cream was a lovely touch after a long journey. Thank you both for making a very stressful week into a lovely calm week for our sons wedding. It is so peaceful in the cottage & also allowing our 2 little dogs was an added bonus. Thank you both, we will be back. ❤️❤️

Exceptionally clean and felt very safe knowing all the extra measures in place re covid. Only slight downside for us was there was no freezer compartment in the fridge - I know this is fairly small detail but we have a child who needs to have all her meals prepared for the day so we couldn’t keep them cool with an ice pack (and no ice cubes for gin lol)

“We had a lovely week at swallow cottage.”

It's in a great location just minutes from perranporth by car. Ideal for getting to many stunning coastal paths. The cottage was Very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but the shower had very good pressure and a constant supply of hot water. We took our two dogs with us and found the road outside was pretty quiet for walking them. The views over the fields were gorgeous. It was good value for money and we would book again. Many thanks for the cream tea on arrival.

“Had no real problems & an enjoyable stay, the cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch.”

Complaints are more niggles than anything else as everything was very clean & fresh. We didn't really need a dishwasher & a washing machine would have been preferable. The fittings in the bathroom became a little annoying as only hooked on rather than fixed firmly to the walls and we only realised the oven switch needed to be kept on for the fridge to work after the first day (a little note or sign on the wall would be great). Other than that good base from which to visit the local area.

“We feel that the accommodation should be described as compact, especially the shower room.”

There is only a set of drawers in 2nd bedroom so nowhere to hang clothes. The table in the living room needed to be pulled out to sit 4 around it this then blocked the way to the kitchen. The taps in the bathroom take some getting used to & anyone with arthritis would struggle with the pushing down pulling up. We feel a microwave would be a good addition & a washing up bowl. The security light activates every time a car drives by this can be annoying when trying to get to sleep. The cottage is in a good location to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Goonhavern is a small Cornish village in an excellent position just two and a half miles inland from Perranporth, which lies in the heart of Poldark country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham, who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Goonhavern is an active community with a traditional inn, village shop, garden centre and children’s playground. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of their rich heritage including abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages.
