“There were five of us at the Old Stables plus of course Cockpoodle, so we had bags of space which was great on our one somewhat rainy day when we could use the board games and do some cooking in the very well resourced kitchen.”

All the beds were super comfortable and it was great to return from the beach using the outside shower and then one of the two house showers. The garden was most unusual and provided all sorts of different spaces for outside activities at each of its different levels. All the beds were super comfortable and it was great to return from the beach using the outside shower and then one of the two house showers. The garden was most unusual and provided all sorts of different spaces for outside activities at each of its different levels. Being August the beaches were quite busy and so it was delightful to take the short drive back to the house which was wonderfully peaceful by contrast. Choice of nearby beaches was marvellous and we went to most of them plus a splendid meal at the Falcon Inn at St Morgan and the Japanese Gardens there was something else for us garden enthusiasts. So we loved every moment and thank you so much for being on hand, all best.

The property

This beautifully furnished, 200 year old converted stone farm building nestles in a peaceful rural location one mile inland from Watergate Bay.

The Old Stables is set in a lovely spot surrounded by fields and at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac but is close to plenty of cafes, restaurants and great beaches.

It’s an excellent choice for a family or group of friends looking for a special holiday base in Cornwall.

Porth, Crantock, Mawgan Porth, Constantine Bay, Padstow and Harlyn Bay are all an easy drive away.

Upon arrival you are greeted by a large driveway with ample off-road parking.

Enter into the kitchen and immediately notice the high ceilings, exposed stonework and host of cooking appliances, including a gas range cooker, catering to your culinary needs.

A sofa is tucked in too for curling up with a book.

Wander down the hall to find the first bedroom, occupying a super-king-size bed with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, whilst next door lies a 4ft double bed with a mezzanine ladder suitable for two children or one adult.

Wander back through the kitchen into a communal entrance hall leading off to the third bedroom, offering two singles, serviced by the family bathroom with choice of bath and shower over.

From the kitchen, head up into the mezzanine sitting room, a light and airy space in the summer and equally as cosy in the winter, featuring a plush corner settee facing the Smart TV and woodburning stove, perfect for movie marathons.

A step down leads into the sun room, uplifted by natural light and offering a lovely space to read and appreciate the views over the garden and into the surrounding fields.

The master bedroom upstairs has a generous super-king-size bed with en-suite freestanding bath and walk-in shower.

A door opens onto a lovely private back deck with an olive tree and lavender and new garden furniture and an outdoor shower.

To the side of the property there is a large enclosed lawned area perfect for family games and a good space for your your dog to run about safely.

Horses potter in the adjoining field.

Here you will find more patio furniture offering seating for eight while a new luxury gas barbecue allows for grilled feasts.

Head up to the first tier of the garden and you will find hammocks waiting for you.

At the very top of the garden is a fire pit with tree stumps for seats and lovely views.

Pack up your seaside essentials and head to Watergate Bay or Porth Beach, less than a mile away, offering large golden beaches filled with fascinating rock pools.

Enjoy a sundowner on the deck at the Living Space in Watergate Bay Hotel for stunning sunsets.

It’s a great location to visit loads of lovely places.

Truro is a short drive away or visit the world-famous Eden Project nestled in St Austell.

Visit the Duchy of Cornwall Garden centre with its fabulous café in Lostwithiel or St Agnes for a lovely day out if you need a break from the beach.
