“We really enjoyed our time at Jordan Cottage.”

The owners provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable and homely stay. It was ideal for a couple wanting peace and quiet and a nice outlook. Richard gave good advice and guidance on gaining access, parking, local attractions and amenities. Boddinick is a very good location for visiting Fowey, Eden Project, great beaches, historical harbours and other coastal areas with good access to the SW Coastal Paths. The cottage is located half way up a hill so guests should be aware they need to walk up if spending the day in Fowey and using the foot ferry (£2.50/person each way) (Car £6 each way) to cross. Or having a very good meal and few drinks in the Old Ferry Inn at the foot of the hill. It was great to have a designated parking space, but those with low bumpers/poor ground clearance need to take extra care when driving in and out of the steep access to the small car park opposite the cottage. Also be aware there are steps down to the cottage if carrying baggage or those with walking difficulties.

This is a very fair and entirely accurate assessment of Jordan Cottage which we were very pleased to receive. Many thanks Richard and Christine Property Owner

About the location

FOWEY

Lostwithiel 8 miles; Polperro 8 miles

Looe 8 miles. In Bodinnick and Fowey you are in the heart of Daphne Du Maurier country with all those rich associations. Fowey is easily accessed by the Bodinnick Ferry which runs continuously and takes cars and foot passengers across the river. The ferry runs from morning until evening and provides guests with a wonderful choice of holiday experiences. There are a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes to satisfy all tastes. Fish meals abound and Rick Stein praised dining in Fowey in his television series on Cornwall but there are also tapas, pizza and fish and chip venues to provide for all tastes.

The historic and special town of Fowey on the impressive estuary of the river Fowey is full of activity and colour with sailing, canoeing and gig rowing. Galleries and pottery shops play their part in the artistic life of the town and the aquarium and museum add to your range of choices. The Town Quay is very central to life in Fowey and many events take place here.

This is also where you can book to go on river trips or take a ferry out to sea and call in at the old fishing town of Mevagissey. You can also hire your own dingy by the hour and explore the estuary or join in on one of the many group kayak expeditions up river.

In the Fowey Valley you are never far from the sea and there are any number of beaches and coves to be explored. There is Readymoney Cove with the village of Polruan just across the river by passenger ferry, which also offers a beach. A little further away there is Polkerris beach with swimming and other water-based activities and back on the east side of the estuary is the wild and spectacular Lantic Bay.

Walking in Cornwall is always a pleasure and the Fowey Valley offers exceptional walks both on the east and west sides of the estuary. Walk books and OS maps in the cottage can help you plan your visits.

Guests at Jordan Cottage particularly enjoy days out and The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are favourites. There are also plenty of National Trust Properties to enjoy and Lanhydrock is our nearest. Visiting other towns and villages is also much enjoyed and Polperro, Looe and Charleston Harbour offer interest as does Bodmin Moor with Jamaica Inn and its ancient sites such as The Hurlers.
