Falmouth forms a triangle with two other important Cornish towns. Inland to the north is Truro, Cornwall’s sole city where you can enjoy shopping, festivals and more. To the north west lies Redruth, with its fascinating mining history and position at the epicentre of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  

On the other side of Falmouth Harbour sits the beautiful village of St. Mawes. You can take a ferry trip to explore this beautiful example of a Cornish coastal village. Visit the castle, a splendid example of a 16th century artillery fort, and head on out to the stunning beauty of the Roseland Peninsula with its pretty woodlands and secluded creeks. Be sure to drop by the picturesque crossroads village of Mawnan Smith where you can find two of the most gorgeous gardens: Trebah and Glendurgan. At both sites you can stroll through incredible sub-tropical gardens that are right up there with the very best in the world.  

Not far from St. Mawes lies Helford, once an important port but now a sleepy coastal village. The Helford River is remarkably unspoilt, with many hidden creeks and dense oak forests, making it an ideal spot for relaxing walks. Nearby Helston is your destination of choice if you’ve got kids in tow thanks to Flambards theme park where they can enjoy roller coasters, rides, and other attractions.
