“It’s been a week since we got home from our stay at Little Chycoose, I’ve missed our time there every day since being home.”
I have been visiting Cornwall every year since age 7 apart from my teen years that were spent in Canada. There is something about Cornwall that gets under your skin and finds a place in your heart. We went on to take our children and now our grandaughter has had her first holiday in Cornwall.
Little Chycoose was a real home from home, everything that three generations of one family would need was catered for and we were immediately wrapped up in the special warmth and magic that exuded from it.
From the welcome pack (bubbles, scones, clotted cream etc) to the milk, tea, coffee and kitchen bits, we didn’t need to worry about anything for the first day.
We travelled to Cornwall from The Isle of Wight and the New Forest, quite a trip with a baby and someone with limited mobility, finding the cottage was made extra special by the little roads that led to it. As each car arrived the same things were said by the occupants ’this is just perfect’. It wouldn’t matter what time of year you visited, LC would always be perfect. Set in countryside with beautiful gardens, farmers fields for views going off into the distance and a group of squirrels to keep the dachshund’s on their toes, we had plenty to occupy us both inside and out.
Ample space downstairs allowed my son in law to have business meetings via Skype whilst the rest of the family and doggos occupied the rest of the house and gardens.
LC is the type of house I think of when I look at owning a property where we could all live, one that embraces family life but also allows everyone to have their own space to read, play or congregate in the kitchen, not once did we end up going out for dinner. We made full use of the kitchen space and had some wonderful meals around the large kitchen table.
My husband and I stayed in the Cow Shed, tastefully decorated throughout and with a fabulous shower. It was nice to say goodnight at the end of the evening and make our way to bed, we slept well each night and in the morning we’re ready to start the day.
Every year I have places I want to visit but this year, it didn’t matter. We were so comfortable in our surroundings that we stayed home several times whilst others went out for a mooch.
Mark, owner of LC was lovely, thoughtful and appreciative of family life. It was thoughtful of him to make contact to ensure all was well and to see if anything was needed by any of us (including the baby).
Our thoughts on LC….. perfect! Would we come again? Absolutely.
I give a general heads up on anyone with an EV. We had a nightmare finding somewhere to charge and ended up in the McDonalds car park just as you head into Falmouth (about 4miles from LC). It’s a fast charge and cost us £30 to fill up. On leaving LC, we stopped at Launceston, the car park had a super fast charger and again it was just under £30 and got us home (just).
I wish Cornwall would sort this out, living on the Isle of Wight we have the same problem so I’m more than tolerant of it but some may not be. Relax, you’re on holiday.
Wow Thank you SO much that is so kind. Great info and advice to others. Picking up on your point about EVs it is in our plan put in a EV charging point at the property next year!
