“Lovely detached cottage in peaceful location.”

Well appointed property with everything needed. Added bonus of guided garden tour with gardener, Simon, well worth booking. Would like to go back and stay again when the rhododendrons are in flower.

The property

Surrounded by a large tranquil woodland garden within the grounds of the Penwarne Estate on the outskirts of Mawnan Smith, this cottage offers a naturally beautiful setting for a truly relaxing break and is conveniently located just a short distance from a spectacular coastline; golden beaches at Maenporth, Swanpool and Gllyngvase and Trebah Gardens and National Trust owned Glendurgan Gardens.

Just to the west is the enduringly popular Helford River, with its serene landscape, tree shrouded tidal creeks and waterside pubs, which make it intriguing to explore on foot or on water by hiring a self-drive motor/rowing boat.

Falmouth is within a 10 minute drive and is an excellent location for all ages with its fabulous choice of shops, restaurants, old inns, a golf course and the National Maritime Museum.

Passenger ferries operate scenic harbour crossings from here to Flushing and St Mawes and upriver to Truro.

Highly recommended in the 'Good Gardens Guide', the Penwarne Estate (shared only with the owner's and neighbouring groundsman's residence) extends over 12 acres of sub-tropical gardens, which include one of the county's largest collections of Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Camellias.

Not usually open to the public, guests staying at Penwarne Lodge can by special arrangement enjoy a guided tour of the garden.

There is an irresistible romance attached to Penwarne Lodge, a detached white-washed double fronted cottage with a country-style interior, wood burning stove, plump settees, comfortable mattresses and soft furnishings made in vintage floral fabrics.

The two spacious bedrooms have scenic views over the garden and countryside.

The master bedroom is furnished with a super king bed and the second bedroom can be presented as a double or twin (although it is not a zip and link).

Parking for two cars.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
