“Had a wonderful stay at the Wagon House.”

We had pretty awful weather, but the little house was very homely, warm and comfortable and it was actually quite nice watching the wind and rain from the comfy sofa! The new bathroom refit had literally just been completed when we got there, so there was a little bit of residue building dust but nothing of any concern and the house was otherwise clean and tidy. The new bathroom refit had literally just been completed when we got there, so there was a little bit of residue building dust but nothing of any concern and the house was otherwise clean and tidy. Very impressed with the well equipped kitchen (so nice to go somewhere and find little everyday things tin foil, washing up liquid and pegs!). Bedding was impressively soft and warm despite very low temperatures for the first couple of days. Enjoyed a couple of lake walks when not raining, the site is well maintained with a good path around most of it, though walking boots or wellies needed after the rain. Must say that the Wi-Fi was very good and strong and had no problems with signal at all. Scones and jam (and wine!) were very tasty and well received, thank you. Trudi and Sam were very warm and welcoming in a very unobtrusive way. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and would be very happy to stay again when next in that area.

The property

The Wagon House is tucked away in the Cornish countryside, in the village of Lezant, not far from Launceston.

This charming, pet-friendly holiday home sleeps four people across two bedrooms, has a charming patio with furniture, and provides easy access to outdoor amenities like a picnic bench and lake field with built in barbecue.

Step inside and relax in front of the Smart TV while someone in your group takes care of dinner preparations.

Enjoy an outdoor meal as the sun sets over Cornwall, either seated at the table or standing around the grill.

When the sky turns dark, retreat indoors to use the sleek bathroom and rest in the spacious double or twin bedrooms, the single beds are zip and link so they can be made into a king bed on request.

The Wagon House is situated in a beautiful rural area on a working farm, where guests can interact with the animals and enjoy the outdoors, but all the conveniences of the town of Launceston are only a short drive away.

The Westgate Inn and the Launceston Arms are just two of the pubs in the area serving up hearty, traditional pub grub to help you feel at home during your self-catered stay.

Other places to get lost in history include the ruins of the 13th-century Launceston Castle, the Saxon town of Lydford on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park, and the dog-friendly grounds of Penhallam Manor.

Nearby Dartmoor National Park is a paradise for hikers and bikers with its 954 square kilometres of trails, charming zoo, and opportunities for horseback riding and rock climbing with breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside.

The Wagon House is an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall.

About the location

LAUNCESTON

Bude 19 miles.

The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. You can take a stroll to the Dog friendly Willow Tree Cafe and Woodland Walk or visit the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.
