“We loved our stay at the Smoke House!”

! It’s a really lovely little house, well equipped and furnished with super comfortable beds. The shower is really powerful too which is just what you need after time in the sea and on the beach. It also has great views from the master bedroom and patio out to the harbour and beyond! Charlestown is a bustling little village with a great selections of places to eat and little shops to explore, we’ll definitely be back!!

“A super first experience of booking a dog friendly cottage.”

The allocated parking space reduced the stress of knowing where to park in an unfamiliar place. The location was amazing with lots of places to eat locally (some do require booking). The property itself was perfect, a home from home with a lovely view of the harbour from the main bedroom. Quality bedding, well equipped kitchen and the washing machine came in handy when the children decided to go into the sea with clothes on (

“Fantastic week in Charlestown we all really enjoyed it.”

Location of the smokehouse is excellent and all restaurants are on your doorstep. It was lovely to get up in the morning and look straight out of the window to the tall ships and the harbour an amazing location. It was a great base to explore from. The smokehouse was extremely clean and very comfortable, with the little details that were left by the owners adding to a fantastic stay. The communication from the owner was superb before we arrived which just added to the whole experience. Thank you for a really lovely holiday, we hope to return soon!

The cottage has lovely views being situated at the head of Charlestown harbour and has excellent access to supermarkets at nearby St Austell. Thoroughly recommended - we hope to visit again.

“No 6 The Old Smokehouse was lit up with Christmas lights when we arrived and the owners had thoughtfully put up a Christmas tree for us.”

Exceptionally clean throughout with a superb moveable power shower. Very comfortable bed in main bedroom and we had a very enjoyable week in Charlestown and the cottage. Highly recommend it.

A delightful and much sought-after coastal village of stone cottages and Regency houses, on the south coast near St. Austell. Famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path, Charlestown is the perfect holiday destination. It has even been used as a filming location, most well-known for appearing in Poldark. The area is rich in golf courses with Carlyon Bay and Porthpean close by. The picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey is 6 miles away by car, while the Lost Gardens of Heligan, several stately homes and gardens and the fabulous Eden Project are all within 5 miles, with Newquay and North Cornwall coast 17 miles away.
