“We couldn't recommend Smugglers Loft more for a relaxing break in Looe.”

It's perfectly located in town with everything on your doorstep and lovely views. The apartment was cosy for a winter break and immaculately kept, we had everything we needed and the reserved parking was a great bonus. Thank you to Jayne and Andy for making our break so relaxing, we will be back :)

Enjoying a superb location in the town centre just moments away from East Looe Beach and offering stunning quayside views, Smugglers Loft is a fabulous dwelling for couples or a family of three.

Leave your vehicle in the car park under the apartment block, before climbing the stairs up to your new home-from-home.

Relax in the spacious sitting room, with exceptional riverside views, where you can relax on the generous corner sofa and select a much-loved film from the TV as the evening’s entertainment.

As your eyes grow heavy, retire to one of two well-presented bedrooms, a double and a single, both with charming nautical touches harking to the property’s superb location.

In the morning, wake-up with a refreshing shower and a steaming cup of coffee over a hearty breakfast at the breakfast bar for two, before heading out to explore.

A plethora of pubs, cafes and restaurants lie on your doorstep, including The Plough On The Quay, The Old Sail Loft and The Fish Market, where you can sample local and freshly caught seafood with views overlooking the East Looe River as you dine.

Pack-up your bathing suits, swim trunks and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of East Looe Beach, where you can beachcombe the shores, tuck-in to fresh and chips or go for a swim.

Other activities within the town include the Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol, Banjo Pier where you can watch the local fisherman return with their catches of the day and walks through the delightful Kilminorth Woods.

Join the South West Coast path where you can expect some of the best scenery and views in the area, and make your way towards the breath-taking National Trust site of Lantic Bay, with rugged headlines and coves peppering the shores waiting to be explored.

Venture further afield to the market town of Liskeard, where the budding historians in your group will delight at the attractions of Liskeard Museum, Stuart House and Trewithian Manor, or if that isn’t your thing, why not enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Moyclare Cornish Garden or take the short drive over to Adrenalin Quarry to try your hand at zip wires, a giant clifftop swing and coasteering!

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
