“Scylla View is a great place to stay - you are literally at the bottom of the cliff, almost on the beach.”
The flat has great views and is very comfortable and cosy. There are two bedrooms, a good shower/loo plus a small kitchen area in the open plan sitting room. There is no table, but a large bar with stools round to sit and eat. The pans are good to cook with. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the planning and decor. It has a joint entrance with the owner's home, which is accessed off a large deck, and is situated above the other one bed apartment - the cafe and surf school are below/behind the owners home. The cliff is steep, and it does take some time to get down and up as it is not just the 166 steps but also the long drag up the tarmacked lane to the the top of the cliff - I am fat and in my 50's and my husband has had both hips and a knee done and we managed it without any problem....but needed a lot of puff. We would have struggled without the hoist for our luggage. You do need to be very organised with regard to supplies - it is isn't the sort of place to run out of anything! There were plenty of teabags, a couple of coffee pods for the machine, salt & pepper grinders, a tea towel, oven gloves, bedding and towels, dettox, a cleaning cloth and a scourer provided, but don't forget oil for cooking and any herbs etc. In season Jim and Nina will cook you fish or scampi and chips etc. There is also a cafe near the top of the cliffs which opens all year round until about 4pm and will provide hot pasties to take out on a day trip or lunch, or tea and cake/scones. If you go over the road there is a restaurant in Whitesands Bay Holiday Park, which apparently does a carvery on Sundays. The views are breathtaking and the beaches are just beautiful.
