“This is the second time we have stayed at Carne Vue.”

The owners are very welcoming and provide regular updates and clear concise instructions re the property, prior to arrival. The property itself has everything you need and is very clean, tidy and well organised. The beds and sofas are really comfortable. The basket of welcome treats is very much appreciated too. The garden is a lovely place to relax and watch the alpacas in the neighboring field.

Bungalow is perfect for our needs one of the cleanest Sykes property we have stayed in. It’s a shame it’s so far from us. Second time we have visited and have now explored all the area. That is the only reason we are not returning. As it really is perfect. Anyone staying here, will not be disappointed.

“Just Wow! We came needing a spiritual top up in comfortable surroundings and boy did we find it.”

This well equipped comfy spacious cottage is set on the path of the ancients from Ley Lines to Bronze age settlements abound. This is a special place to go be at peace with nature and Llamas at the bottom of the garden. We sat in the garden in the day just listening to nature and the evenings the stars put on a show. We loved going out East or West to different coves and beaches daily, where we sat with picnic over looking Sennen Cove or Cape Cornwall. We have already booked another week as although for us its a ten hour drive to get there (one driver) it has left us feeling immensely refuelled from staying at a place with such positive energy and cleanliness. Thank you

The facilities within the property was first class and probably one of the best we have been in. The access to Carne Due was via narrow roads but that is expected in Cornwall. Overall a delightful peaceful holiday.

“AMAZING. AMAZING, AMAZING!”

this was more than a holiday for us, it was 5 months since my wife had her stroke, and it was a trial to see if we could manage away from home. The bungalow was the cleanest we have ever stayed in with Sykes. The owners have thought of everything you need for a self catering holiday. The settees were different from photos and are actually electric recliners a real bonus. We were a bit worried about previous comment re shower, but everything was fine, used shower mats provided and did not have a problem at all. A day after arriving we have re-booked for a week next year. Whether you have a disability or not 'Carne Vue' is a perfect holiday bungalow, and seeing the Alpacas was such a treat for my wife. We have never stayed in this part of Cornwall, normally stay at Mawgan Porth, this is our new found place as its Cornwall with the terrain of our other favourite Dartmoor. Carne Vue will be seeing alot of us, thank you for a well rested respite.

“Had ,what could of been ,a serious fall !”

! The Disabled shower IS NOT for disabled Guests as I found out the Tiles throughout the Bathroom when wet is like an ice skating rink perhaps a sign warning to guests would help ! Everything else was as said on the tin , oh just one little thing , the welcome pack , swap the cake with a Loaf of sliced Bread and the biscuits for some Butter !

Thank you for your feedback. As described as a wet room bathroom in Carne Vue write up, the bathroom will get wet, but it is designed for the turning circle of a wheel chair. We do supply 2 mats, one for the bathroom and one for the shower. Correct use of the weighted shower curtain helps as well as keeping the underfloor heating on (guests tend to turn this off) and also the extractor fan helps. We also have a shower seat and grab handles throughout the wet room bath room. As for the welcome pack, cake and biscuits are offered as a treat - as the property is self catering we would assume guests would bring bread and butter as a standard provision. Property Owner

There was a welcome pack of food and drink in the kitchen which was much appreciated. The cottage was very clean and well furnished. The beds and sofas were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower. There were also alpacas and rheas in the field next to the property who always came over to say hello! Would definitely stay here again.

Having said that the accommodation is lovely. Very comfortable. Nicely presented. Only thing missing is a freezer. Ice box not enough for families. Hamper appreciated after long journey. Nice touch. Would consider another stay.

“What a great place to stay!”

Fully wheelchair accessible, shower chair provided, assistance rails all round the bathroom, large open plan kitchen/dining/living room with ample space for wheelchair users to manoeuvre and turn. Bedrooms have enough space for wheelchair users to get up to the beds and wardrobes and dressing tables. Ramped access, parking outside the door. A welcome pack in the kitchen so you can have a cuppa on arrival was an unexpected bonus. All the extra touches really made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, Nicola was a pleasure to get to know. There were also friendly Alpacas, bunnies and birds galore. Food highlights of our stay include Stevenson's fishmonger in Newlyn and the Duke street cafe in Newlyn make the best fresh crab sandwiches, Frazers for fish and chips and ice cream in Penzance, and the best Indian is The Taj Mahal in Penzance. We visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan (food to die for), Trengwainton Gardens, St Ives via the train from the St Erth park and ride, Geevor Tin Mine, Land's End and The Lizard and The Minack Theatre!!! All within 1hrs drive of Carne Vue and all with full accessibility statements and routes.

Good location. Nice welcome pack. Very minor comments lack of pizza cutter and plastic on single beds made it very sweaty for sleeping but understand if children are using the beds. Would recommend the cottage. Good standard. Thanks

Nice and isolated. Peaceful. Lots of interesting and beautiful scenery nearby. Would warn people who are booking that it’s down lots of single track roads so careful driving. Bathroom, bedroom and kitchen facilities all great. Only thing to note is internet is very slow. Was fine for Us but more than 2 people with multiple devices might struggle

The garden is not enclosed completely, so worth noting if you have a dog or young children. We did not find it to be a problem as it is in a very rural location surrounded by fields. There are animals in the field ( Alpacas and Emu type birds, and a pony) so lovely for children to look at and possibly feed.

The property

Carne Vue is just a 25 minute drive to St Ives and 20 minutes to St Just and Zennor.

With views extending over countryside to the ruined engine house of Ding Dong mine, the tiny rural hamlet of Great Bosullow is ideally located to explore this legendary part of Cornwall.

The glorious beach at Sennen is around a 20 minutes drive and for those who would like to explore try some nearby coves such as Portheras Cove or Gurnards Head Beach.

Set on a seventy acre farm, peaceful walks extend for miles in all directions.

A modern semi-detached bungalow built to a high specification, all rooms are generously proportioned for modern living, and its contemporary design also facilitates full manoeuvrability for wheelchairs.

A sloping ceiling inset with remote control Velux windows adds a light, airy quality to the uncluttered ambience of a comfortable living room furnished with leather sofas and a stylish dining suite; the adjoining kitchen is fully fitted with Maple cabinets.

Natural pine floors extend into the bedrooms each with their own DVD TV's and the soft neutral decor is carried through into a lavishly tiled wet room which boasts a bath and a walk-in shower.

Visit the local Rural Centre, a particular favourite of children where chinchillas, chipmunks and rabbits can be viewed on request.

Taking in views over open countryside the elevated garden at the rear is a good spot for a barbecue on a summer's evening.

Seasonal fruit and vegetables can be purchased from the farm shop and small shops, pubs and a Cornish Meadery can be found three miles away in Pendeen.

The rail terminus and shops of Penzance are within a ten minute drive and the beaches, galleries and restaurants of St Ives are a must visit during your stay.

PENZANCE

St Ives 8 miles. Helicopter to Isles of Scilly - 30 minutes

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up.
