The property

Hillywych Studio is a very comfortable and contemporary holiday property in Portreath, Cornwall, near to the owners' home.

With a sheltered and sunny courtyard garden and a sleek and striking décor, this home is a perfect base for a small family, a couple, or even friends sharing to enjoy a coastal getaway.

Enter the home and start your break; the open-plan living room will undoubtedly be the social hub for your party. The dining area, which is bright and airy, is a great spot to catch up on the day's happenings while the assigned chef utilises the well-equipped kitchen.

Relax with a glass of wine while flipping through the channels to find a movie in the sitting area.

When it is time to sleep, travel upstairs to the first floor and pick between a king-size or a twin room both with comfortable hybrid mattresses and high-quality bedding.

Serviced by a bathroom with both a bath and a rainfall shower above where you can get ready for the day.

Outside, the enclosed rear yard is a beautiful spot to dine alfresco in the warmer months, BBQ or to enjoy a bit of tranquillity in the morning with a hot coffee.

Walk with your boards and beach gear to the beach and be rewarded with a hot outdoor shower on your return, or wash off sandy paws with the outdoor tap.

Hillywych Studios is located on quiet Tramway that stretches from the North to South coasts and links miles of beautiful off-road cycle and walking paths around Cornwall.

Opposite the house is a pretty park, great for a kick around or for exercising the dogs.

100 meters away is a children’s play park with Astro turf football pitch.

Portreath itself is a fishing village, awarded Unesco World Heritage status for it’s mining heritage and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is rich in history and is bordered by stunning cliffs, coastline and woodlands.

There is a gorgeous sandy beach (Dog friendly all year round subject to restrictions in the summer holidays) that is lifeguarded in peak season and at low tide large rock pools are uncovered that are great for a cold water swim all year round or you can dip in the various rock baths carved out for Lady Basset in the 18th Century.

There is also a popular surf break off the harbour wall.

The studio is a short (3-5 minute) level walk to several excellent (dog friendly) pubs, pop up food huts, cafes, shops, beaches, harbour and cliffs.

Should you wish to sample the local produce you can pick your own fruit and vegetables at Trevaskis Farm and Local fishermen sell their catch from the harbour cottage next to the guard stations.

Within walking distance are several dog friendly parks and nature preserves, including Tehidy country park, Illogan Woods and Basset's Cove.

Within a 10-30 minute drive are beautiful Godrevy, Gwithians Towans, Hayle beaches and heritage sites such as East Pool Mine, Cornwall Gold and Tolgus Mill.

St.Ives, Perranporth, St.Agnes, Newquay and Falmouth which make for fabulous days out.

Head inland and explore the many fascinating mining heritage trails of the Great Flat Lode.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St. Michaels Mount and The Eden Project, Newquay Zoo, Paradise Park, Penzance Lido and Geopools, numerous National Trust houses and gardens are all within an hours drive and make for truly memorable visits.

Hillywych Studio is an excellent choice for a getaway for couples, families or friends.

Pets are also made very welcome.

About the location

PORTREATH

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.

Note: Dogs are not permitted upstairs. They are welcome on the ground floor and in the garden but not in the carpeted areas or bedrooms.
