“Sadly the cottage was not clean at all.”

Both bins in the bathrooms had not been emptied from previous clients!! Cobwebs & spiders in wardrobes! We had to clean the fridge as their was mould INSIDE the fridge - I certainly was not putting food into that. General cleanliness was very lacklustre. The oil cloth on the table was black when wiped! The whole house was just very tired, not clean and underwhelming. Very disappointed. I realise it is an old cottage & will be a little crooked in places, that is not an issue. However, not ...

The whole house was just very tired, not clean and underwhelming. Very disappointed. I realise it is an old cottage & will be a little crooked in places, that is not an issue. However, not having a front door that is draft proof is no excuse. Heating systems are not practical & it is very damp. The chest of drawers in both double bedrooms are very shallow & not really fit for purpose. I seriously ask the question how many times does Sykes actually check out their cottages as this is a health hazard.

Thank you for your feedback though we were very disappointed to read your comments. We have already apologised for the bathroom bin not being emptied and this was an unacceptable oversight. The property was only empty for a few days prior to your arrival so I can't imagine how there was mould in the fridge. Something that has never happened before but we will monitor it in future. It is a great shame that your experience has been so different to other recent guests as you probably saw in our guest book. Recent comments include: "fabulous house" "Very comfy and clean" "In excellent condition" "Lovely cottage" With regard to the draft from the front door I noticed the spring in the letter box was broken so the flap was not closing but this has been fixed.
