Nicholas “Apartment has a lot of potential with amazing sea views in a great area for walking and getting outdoors however hot water pressure is very weak and electric shower keeps running very cold.”
There is mould on the window blinds. we left at 10.05 on our day of checkout (5 mins late) and this upset the cleaner who turned up early. I thought her lack of patience was unnecessary seeing as we stayed in the apartment for 4 weeks without it being cleaned and kept it spotless.

Elizabeth “Fantastically comfy beds.”
Very poor water pressure. Very small bath towels and it would have been nice to have a second bath towel as the en-suite had no way of drying the towels. There was no mention of the laundry in the list of facilities on the website. Very clean and tidy

Rowena “Fabulous as always - can’t really fault it.”
Extremely clean and flat very well equipped. Being visiting The Fort for over 20 years now in various flats but apartment 66 fits our requirements perfectly. Already booked again for 2025.

Francoise “We enjoyed every aspect of the property: sitting and lounging on the balcony, cooking facilities, (no salad spinner though) good size fridge and freezer, bathrooms with very powerful showers, (shame about the poor flow of water in the en suite washbasin taps), plenty of storage for clothes.”
- Francoise, June 2024 -
Valerie “Really lovely bright apartment with beautiful sea views.”
We enjoyed scenic walks straight from the property but always liked coming back to see what sea traffic was about. Sitting on the balcony drinking tea and soaking up the changing sea views- bliss!

Andrew “Really enjoyed our stay in a very comfortable and well equipped apartment.”
The views are fantastic providing a panoramic view of every thing going on in the very busy chanel. Our only comment is we wished that there was a washing machine. I would highly recommend the apartment and its location being within easy walking distance of the villages of Kingsand, Cawsand and Crymel. We enjoyed the ferry from Cawsand to Plymouth. We enjoyed our visit so much we have booked a return visit for next Yr.

Peter “Absolutely great place.”
This a completely one of holiday vacation let. We love it there.

Roger “Unable to contact anyone to give onsite information concerning security gates.”
Tried 3 times to no avail, then contacted office, went through rigmorole of information of booking and told that they would get back in touch, never to be heard of again.

Robert “We loved the apartment and surrounding area.”

Patrick “Hot water pressure still annoyingly slow.”
Been here 3 times in the past 5 years and this issue persists. Are there any plans to remedy it? Regulation of hot water in the bathrooms also temperamental. One or two things in need of maintenance, in particular faulty blind in en suite bedroom, electrical socket under window in same bedroom not working and couldn't tell if the hot water boost was working due to faulty lcd screen. Other than those, we had an enjoyable week made better by settled weather, and those views never disappoint!
- Patrick, May 2023 -
Kim “Sublime and heavenly in any weather.”
Views front out to sea and back garden are unique. Its the best place to be anytime. Food deliveries and great indian take away delivers ! See you again soon guys.

Terry “Unquestionably superbly location.”
Comfortable, but cold on arrival and with the main heating being Night store electric theatres, slow to warm up, A fan heater did help. Some of the lighting, not working. In particular, one of the two lights in the kitchen area not working, so that room was dark. The check out itime of 0900 is far too early and placed a strain on the last few hours in the property. Particularly as the cleaner was outside by 0850 . The same applies of the late check in of 4pm. More normal times are 3pm and 10pm The TV set uo was complicated and not easy to operate. However, difficult to beat for location, once having negotiated the narrow road in.
- Terry, November 2022Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are pleased that you enjoyed the superb location at Apartment 66. The lighting issue has since been resolved and an information folder can found in the property. Property Owner

Kim “Absolutely loved it all.”
The view is awesome. We are Plymouthians by birth and live in wales. This sea and area was our playground when young until when we left in 1986 aged 27. We never knew what we had as it was the norm ! Coming back brought all the amazing memories back. We will return to this apartment for sure. Thanks to you all and Sue the housekeeper. Thanks, Kim & Clive.

Mark “Great views although a little remote.”
A fair walk to anywhere which was fine for us, but not if you have mobility problems or young children too old for a push chair but too young to walk far. Apartment OK, but in need of a little TLC in some places. You're paying for the view.
- Mark, July 2022 -
Keren “Amazing apartment with far reaching sea views.”
Sitting on the balcony reminded us of being on a cruise ship balcony as the sea was so close - it was perfect! Well equipped kitchen and very clean throughout. We walked from the apartment along the coastal paths every day, so didn't need to use our car at all. We would definitely recommend the apartment and would love to stay again!
- Keren, July 2022 -
Gillian “A lovely apartment in a stunning location.”
Seeing is believing!
- Gillian, June 2022 -
Julian “This is our second time here and we've enjoyed the holiday just as much as the first.”
I'd recommend it to others but I don't want any more competition in bookings!
- Julian, April 2022 -
Emma “Lovely apartment, great views.”
We had a very restful week. A very peaceful location away from it all. You need to stock up before you get in as no shop within walking distance.
- Emma, March 2022 -
Kath “An amazing place with the most stunning views.”
You can while away hours watching the navy ships go by and enjoy a beautiful walk into the pretty villages of Kingsand & Cawsand. The Mount Edgcumbe park is a short distance from the property too. We’ll definitely be back!
- Kath, March 2022 -
David “Last here December 2018, much improved since then.”
A very well laid out apartment, with exceptional views.
- David, February 2022 -
Julian “Good enough to book again next year”
- Julian, October 2021 -
Georgina “Our second time in apartment 66 and we enjoyed it as much as the first time.”
The one thing that would very much improve it for us would be a dishwasher. Thank you for the help with the tv Sue.
- Georgina, October 2021 -
Elaine “Sue, the caretaker was brilliant - came out in evening to sort the television out for us.”
Had a very enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing stay with no other problems.
- Elaine, September 2021 -
Anthony “Let’s start by saying this place is all about the location and stunning sea views.”
It’s a little awkward getting to places because of it’s unique location but that’s not a big deal. That flat itself is clean but basic and looking a little tired. Beds were comfy and plenty of storage for clothes. The main drawback though is the shocking water pressure. It takes between 1hr and 2hrs to fill the bath and that’s no exaggeration. The shower is either scalding hot or freezing cold! I don’t believe that they couldn’t invest in a water pressure pump to solve this problem. I just think for a 1 week stay costing over £1400 you should expect to have decent bath and shower! Tony Carter 01/08/21 to 08/08/21
- Anthony, July 2021Thanks for your feedback, Fort Picklecombe has its own water supply and as the apartment is on the top floor the water has a long way to travel. We have been unable to find an issue with the shower and have had no similar reports regarding this. Property Owner

Brian “It should be made clear this property is located in the middle of nowhere.”
It is one mile down a very poor single track road. The nearest shop and pub are about four miles away
- Brian, July 2021We are sorry you feel our description did not accurately describe the location of this property. The web description accurately states the mileage to nearest villages/towns. Property Owner

Gillian “The Fort never disappoints.”
A unique location in a beautifully appointed apartment. Whenever we needed a query answered, Helpful Holidays were excellent in responding. The company is also first class in keeping their customers updated with all relevant information.
- Gillian, June 2021 -
Patrick “Hot water pressure can be an issue for some.”
Fort Picklecombe has its own water supply. The apartment is on the top floor and as such the water has a long way to travel. One can get around the problem by using a kettle to top up sinks and baths. There is no such issue with the shower supply.
- Patrick, May 2021 -
Matthew “Really enjoyed our stay at Apartment 66, though if you're a light sleeper and the sea is choppy don't expect a quiet time!”
The bedroom windows have kind of lost all sound-reduction, but fortunately it's a very quiet complex so it's not too much of an issue. We were very pleased to find a Sky Q box which was a plus, though the telly itself has seen better days and could do with an upgrade. Obviously, the sea views are amazing. Overall we would certainly stay there again.
- Matthew, December 2020 -
Nicholas “View was brilliant.”
Kitchen was well equipped for self catering. Beds etc. were comfortable. Had a lovely time. Only minor negative was the main bathroom shower, pressure. Difficult to find a good balance between temperature and pressure. Worked well enough for me with short hair and the ensuite shower was good, so it's only a minor one. Would definitely recommend this apartment.
- Nicholas, August 2020 -
Rachel “The apartment was wonderful.”
The access was tricky but expected due to location. Make sure the occupants take binoculars! Also the season doesn’t start until after Easter, pool and local sailing taxi boats are closed. I will return!!
- Rachel, March 2020 -
Elaine “This is a lovely top floor apartment with 180degree views of the sea in all her moods.”
We watched the ships sailing in and out of the Plymouth sound. The only thing to be aware of is the narrow lanes getting in and out. We had a lovely walk over to Cawsand and the craft centre at Mount Edgecombe is to recommended. We have been to Fort Picklecombe 6 times so that says it all.
- Elaine, December 2019 -
Norma “Very disappointed with this property.”
It was really good to get home to a good nights sleep and a fully functional shower.
- Norma, September 2019 -
Gillian “Fort Picklecombe is a unique location.”
Seeing is believing. We have been visiting on and off for over 30 years and it never fails to amaze us! A first time in this apartment and very much hoping to return. Immaculate and beautifully appointed, missing it already!
- Gillian, June 2019 -
Barbara “Getting the key for access to the 'estate' was problematic and marred the start of the holiday.”
The facilities were as expected but the mattresses on both beds definitely need changing. They were lumpy and uncomfortable. The door key safe also didn't work smoothly so it took half an hour to gain access to the flat. But the view from the balcony was spectacular,
- Barbara, June 2019 -
Hamish “All A OK.Wonderful view Wonder ful country wonderful apartment .”
BUT Parking spaces far too small in view of modern car sizes and the insertion of lockers etc in the parking spaces, making vehicles stick out over the allotted space. Spaces are for cars not convenience parking of anything else, and a car. The shower in the second bathroom is a nightmare and needs replacing with one that is user friendly ! The water pressures need boosting.
- Hamish, April 2019 -
Philip “Just a perfect place to relax and watch the world(ships)go by.”
- Philip, March 2019 -
Graham “The location and the views are second to none.”
Apartment clean and of a good standard. Whole complex clean and well maintained.
- Graham, March 2019 -
Ian “No major complaints.”
But a grab rail in / over the bath would help some people get in and out of bath / shower. Also owner might want to invest in a dishwasher because who wants to wash pots when on holiday.
- Ian, November 2018 -
Peter “We had a great holiday and Helpful Holidays was there all the way.”
We love Apartment 66 this was our 4th time there now.To us it just gets better and better staying there.
- Peter, November 2018 -
Pat “This was our 7th holiday in Apartment 66 and have already booked for next year.”
The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped (apart from not having a dishwasher!) but the over-riding factor of Fort Picklecombe apartments is the stunning view out to sea with naval shipping, yachts and ferries.
- Pat, October 2018 -
Rainer “Wonderfull appartment - clean - comfortable - great views over Plymouth sound .”
. a bit hard to reach ( narrow roads ) P.S. I'm German, please excuse my bad English.
- Rainer, June 2018 -
Martin “The location is unique with views over Plymouth Sound.”
If you like watching any type of marine transport this is the place, bring your binoculars. It is a great pity that there is not a ready supply of hot water. The temperature on the immersion heater needs adjusting. It would be impossible to have a bath. To make it worse the showers don't deliver a good flow of water. Helpful Holidays exceeded our expectations but the apartment failed to meet expectations due to the problem with hot water during one of the coldest weeks of the winter.
- Martin, March 2018
