“A beautiful and well maintained property.”

Warm welcome on arrival. Cornish cream tea and a bottle of Prosecco. Also tea,coffee,sugar,milk and all items for cleaning,washing up etc. We enjoyed our stay and all the fascilities. My husband says this property was in the Premier league. Friendly owners. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

“Chapel Green is a fabulous place and Julia is the most welcoming host.”

The cottage was perfect for our needs, my husband is in a wheelchair, however, there is a steep hill to the property so a manual chair would be out of the question for exploring the area. The cottage was clean, comfortable and peaceful and had everything you wanted for a home from home stay. The cottage is well placed for exploring, with good beaches only a short drive away. The additional amenities of the pool and games room really do make this a great place to stay. I highly recommend visiting The Polgooth Inn, the food is lovely and the staff are really friendly. Thank you Julia and David, we will be back!

“My cousins and I sadly were only there for four days and would have loved to stay longer.”

The warmth of the greeting we received on arrival was second to none. The facilities were fantastic, everywhere was beautifully clean and well maintained. There were also some lovely touches such as fresh milk and eggs in the fridge and a bottle of Prosecco. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and will hope to go back. “Everything was better than we expected (apart from the weather'''''') The owners Julia and Dave were a joy to meet a were extremely helpful.”

My only criticism was the design of the Wet-room pump action centrifugal spinning floor mop which I thought was a novel and great idea but it is not not fast enough to be effective and not the owners fault either. Then there was the impossibility in getting a cab to take us to the Polgooth when it was RAINING. But to be be Fair it is too short a FARE to make it worth their while I suppose. Still I can't help wondering if they would show an interest and suddenly find an available cab if you were to say name your price, or they could impose some sort of surcharge for short runs at peak times as a minimum charge. To be honest, I would happily have paid an extra £5 or even £10 on a special family night out to save us all from a drenching from the Biblical downpours.. that would have had Noah heading for the hills. The steep driveway was not anything to worry about and became a bit of a chuckle after the first ascent / decent. btw there is hardly any phone signal so a good way to chat is via messenger or whatsapp but then I expect most people know that one already but I was a bit slow to suss that one out. All in all, none of that was Dave and Julia's fault and I've been rambling a bit now methinks, and have digressed from announcing most importantly that this was possibly one of the best retreats that we have spent our break in/at and wouldn't hesitate from recommending to my friends.

Chapel Green is fantastic accommodation with the added bonus of a lovely pool and hot tub, games room and small gym which helped keep the teens entertained. David and Julia are lovely hosts, we were delighted to have Easter eggs and a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us and our dog was made to feel very welcome! Thank you! Julia and David were always helpful with any questions on the accommodation and gave us several recommendations for good beaches for children and dogs nearby. The pool and hot tub were lovely and maintained very well. The water in the hot tub is changed weekly. The whole holiday was perfect at Chapel Green. We would like to return one day. A last minute booking in March 2023 and we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves so made full use of the pool and Jacuzzi. The owners made us feel very welcome and informed us of local walks for our 2 dogs and local directions. A welcome pack (tea coffee, milk, etc) was also provided on arrival which was most unexpected but very appreciated. If you are looking for a comfortable and well kitted out base to explore Cornwall then you couldn't go wrong with this cottage, but please don't book leave it for us lol

Also a games room and little gym. All set in beautiful surroundings! The pub down the road serves lovely food and you ain’t to far away from the town even though you wouldn’t think it when you open the curtains on a morning and are surrounded by fantastic views! The accommodation it’s self was more than you needed for a holiday genuinely could of stayed there for weeks the beds were super comfy and the hosts of thought of everything and more to ensure we had a great break! Accommodation was clean and spacious, the on site pool was an added bonus. Whilst NOT an issue for us, be warned that despite what O2s website claimed, neither of us had phone reception at the site, however the wifi provided worked well. There`s plenty to do in the area, we can highly recommend Healeys Cyder farm and Wheal Martyn china clay museum as well as the more `common` tourist spots! Would we stay there again, absolutely!

“Overall we had a really great stay and the cottage and surrounding environment were excellent.”

There were some minor niggles but many of these were personal preferences and do not reflect negatively on the property or the facilities. In no particular order these were: - o There was an issue with the booking and on arrival we were shown a 1 bed property rather than the 2 bed we had booked. There was an awkward few minutes when paperwork was frantically checked and this somewhat spoiled the commencement of our break. My suggestion with regard to this would be to have individual names for the properties rather than studio 1 & 2. o The property would be better served by removing some of the clutter and non-essentials from the kitchen and dining area. I know many people like to cook a lot whilst on a self catering vacation but for us there was just too much stuff in and around the kitchen. Possible an online checklist prior to arrival would allow the management to tailor the contents of the property to the needs of the guests. o The wet room - My issue is I just don't like wet rooms. The floor was never dry despite all the incessant mopping that had to be done every time the shower was used. The one real issue that we were OK with but should have been made aware of was the building work taking place on the site during the entirety of our stay. The builders were respectful and friendly and as quiet as they possibly could have been but we should have been informed that this work would be in progress.

and there are lots of places of interest to go and see. David and Julia who own the property go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable and wanting for nothing. However their property is down a very steep slope, and if you intend to go up on foot you need to be reasonably fit. and you will find as you travel around Cornwall, that it is a very hilly area, and not very suitable for people with poor or disabled mobility.

The owners here are extremely friendly and welcoming, the property is gorgeous and a great base to explore Cornwall from. We especially love how close it is to the Eden Project. It was perfect for our two under 10s, and we were extremely happy to spend the hot summer evenings with the doors wide open and a glass of cold cider. I highly recommend it here.

Set within over an acre of grounds of the owners home this lovely single storey cottage offers a relaxing holiday or short break throughout the year.

You enter the cottage into the spacious open plan living room with comfortable seating and a well fitted kitchen before passing through to the the two bedrooms and stunning bathroom.

Outside offers a patio to enjoy your early morning cuppa or a relaxing drink after another wonderful day on the coast.

Of an evening why not stroll down to the Polgooth Inn, where you'll find a real classic Cornish village pub?

Using the very best local produce an extensive menu is always available offering everything from traditional pub classics to seasonal signature dishes.

You will see why this pub is so popular with the locals who travel from far afield to enjoy the live music in the beer garden during the summer and the roaring log fires to sit around in the winter.

When it comes to a day out you are spoilt for choice with so many beaches, classic fishing villages and leading attractions all within a short drive away.

POLGOOTH

Mevagissey 5 miles; St. Mawes 18 miles; Truro 14 miles.

With its history rooted firmly in tin mining, the village of Polgooth is now a quiet settlement on the outskirts of St Austell, frequented by visitors enjoying the area's outstanding countryside. Just 3 miles from the sea, the village is close to several lovely beaches, and the south-west coastal path also runs close by. The area has a host of visitor attractions, with the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Tall Ships Harbour at Charlestown all within a 15 minute drive. The quaint fishing harbour at Mevagissey, with its passenger ferry across the bay to Fowey, is just 5 miles away, and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula with the villages of St. Mawes and St. Just-in-Roseland lies just a little further. Enjoy a coastal walk and take in the wonderful views, spend a day on the beach, or visit one of the numerous attractions close by. A fantastic location, any time of the year.
