“The stair way was quite dangerous, also I hit my head several times entering the kitchen.”

Poor waste management, along with the heating which was controlled by the owner and set to low. Location was good as we did not have to drive to far, also a nice little garden especially for our dog.

Unfortunately we are in a transition period of waste collection changes with Cornwall Council. Moving from weekly to fortnightly with various bins and bags. Therefore I had paid a private company to empty our bins. We also have a glass bin for bottles etc for our guests through a private company, as the council have removed all collection points for the public. It is unfortunates and hope guests will understand our frustration in trying manage this as best we can to ensure minimal build up. There is a recycling centre on the way to Tintage shoukd gusts wish to use this instead. Property Owner

The property

In a superb location for touring the dramatic north Cornish coastline, this cosy old cottage is set in the historic village of Delabole, approximately one mile inland from the coast and only five miles from Port Isaac.

You will feel at home the moment you enter this delightful cottage, full of character with wooden beams, slate floors and a woodburner for those cooler evenings.

As you go through the porch into the sitting room, the comfy sofa and a singe chair are both welcoming after a busy day.

There is also a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area which leads out into the garden, where you will find a lawned garden and a patio with seating; a real suntrap and perfect for alfresco dining.

Upstairs is where you will find the lovely bedroom with an adjoining dressing room, and just a few yards up the road from the cottage is a private parking space together with a lockable shed, ideal for storing bikes or surfboards.

The village of Delabole lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which enjoys the same status and protection as a national park.

You may well come across Martin Clunes in the village, for whilst he made Port Isaac famous with his portrayal of Doc Martin in the popular TV series, he admits to preferring to stay in Delabole when filming and says he has never seen such a close-knit community.

Directly opposite the cottage are the Ferndale coarse fishing lakes, a thriving fishery where you can fish or settle down to a picnic in beautiful surroundings.

There are many walking opportunities close by and one definitely worth taking is to the disused airfield at Treligga Downs, which offers amazing views up and down the coast.

The surfing beach at Tregardock is near here and well worth seeing, while the cove at Backways and the ever popular Trebarwith Strand are also close by.

Venturing both east and west along this exhilarating coastline gives you the opportunity to visit so many of the quaint villages and secluded coves which make this area of the county so popular.

With so much to do and see, Trelengel is an ideal base for a holiday at any time of year.

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.

Note: Adults only.
