    It had everything we needed and extremely comfy. A perfect spot to visit Padstow, the surrounding area and visit lots the beaches. I would highly recommend The Old Smithy.

The property

This 300-year-old stone cottage forms part of a restored inn, lying in the centre of the attractive market town of St Columb Major in Cornwall.

With lush countryside, coastline, plus towns and villages surrounding this heart-warming property, it's an ideal stay for a family or small group of friends to base their Cornish break.

The ground floor of The Old Smithy is occupied by a fabulously finished open-plan living area, which features comfortable seating, stylishly painted wooden beams and homely touches to create a peaceful spot to spend your downtime in.

The contemporary, well-appointed kitchen with its granite worktops and wine cooler almost surrounds the stylish dining table set for four, completing the layout.

The first floor of the property lies under the cosy sloping ceiling; Velux windows fill the two bedrooms with natural light, as the master bedroom benefits from a sumptuous shower room.

The twin room is well-presented and comes with a wall-mounted TV, ideal for children.

Newquay 7 miles; Padstow 9 miles.

An old and picturesque market town nestled among lush green countryside, just five miles from the North Cornish Coast. The resort attractions of Newquay includes bars, clubs, a zoo, vibrant shops, the National Surfing Centre and fabulous beaches are all just 7 miles away, while 9 miles in the other direction is the sleepy fishing port of Padstow. In between lies a beautiful section of the South West Coast path, winding its way over the clifftops, down to tranquil coves and across some of the region's top beaches. The surrounding area is also a visitor’s paradise with much to see and do. Stately homes, world-renowned gardens, adventure playgrounds and theme parks, model railways, fishing lakes and golf courses are all to be discovered within 10 miles. Even the spectacular Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both on the other side of the county, are only 12 miles away, making this a superb base for your Cornish holiday.
