“From the moment we arrived, down the short, winding lane, Pond Cottage was perfect.”

We immediately poured a glass of vino and sat in the secluded garden listening to the birds. Unpacking was easy with plenty of storage, cooking facilities had everything we needed and the bed was comfy. Bathroom and shower brought no complaints from us and we would certainly recommend it.

Worthy of particular mention are the king sized bed, cosy sofas, superb walk-in power shower, and excellent wood burning stove. Perhaps the dining facility is a little cramped , even for just two people , and light switching when accessing the w.c. from the bedroom at night whilst safely negotiating the step at the bedroom door is somewhat hazardous .This lovely stone built cottage is surrounded by delightfully peaceful sub tropical planted gardens , quite inspirational. Full size appliances, and the bonus of a dishwasher. Heating is efficient and reliable, and plentiful hot water. Beautifully decorated throughout, with accent colours make the whole place tranquil, cosy and very comfortable. The bed is divine, and the electric blanket a real luxury on chilly nights! We booked the cottage so my husband could walk sections of the South West Coastal Path, and I could carry on working, just dropping him off in the mornings, and picking him up at the end of his hike that day. Although very rural, the cottage is easily accessible by major roads and decent country lanes. The village of Stithians is a walkable distance or about a five minute drive, and the Seven Stars pub is excellent, with well kept beers, and good food. We didn’t need to ask our hosts James and Claire anything, but we knew they were on hand if needed. We highly recommend this wonderful cottage! 1000/10!!

“A lovely Cottage in a fabulous location, rural yet very close to "proper" roads and lots of areas of interest.”

Very peaceful, just lovely and everything has been thought of for the comfort of guests. The lovely cream tea set the scene and all was uphill from there on. Not only was the cottage lovely but the gardens too, with a stream running along the side. Harry the cat was a character, he used to call every morning. A lovely holiday, thank you all.

Delicious. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and, even though we had a lot of rain during our stay, we still enjoyed it immensely. We had everything we could possibly need as Mr and Mrs Newman had thought to make th- e cottage 'home from home' and more besides. We would have liked to book June, which was available before we left home, but we are now trying to sort another date as we love it so much. The cottage itself was extremely clean and well appointed. All furnishings were of a high standard as were the kitchen utensils. The bed was so so comfortable and together with the peaceful location ensured we had a good nights sleep. Our host and hostess were friendly and helpful. The location was very good as it was close to our favourite places on the Lizard. The grounds were well kept and provided a lovely place to sit or walk round the lake. We would highly recommend.

The property

Pond Cottage stands detached from the owners' residence in 2.5 acres of lush gardens set around a picturesque pond and bordered by a rippling stream.

An idyllic spot to leisurely idle time away, the tiny hamlet of Tretheague Mill is a quiet, tranquil world of pure escapism, tucked away in blissful countryside just a mile from the village of Stithians.

A single storey converted barn, with one large step from the parking area onto the patio which in turn leads to one small step into the entrance, its beamed interior is spaciously open-plan.

Featuring a contemporary kitchen at one end with one step up into a separate dining area, the living room exudes comfort with tasteful furnishings and a stylish wood burner adds a warm, inviting ambience.

Alfresco meals can be enjoyed on the patio which overlooks your own peaceful lawned garden and you may wander freely through the grounds or take a romantic picnic beside the wildlife pond.

When you wish to explore there are many country walks, one of which will take you to Stithians Lake, popular for watersports, angling and birdwatching, where you can sample delicious tea/coffee and cake at The Wild Vibes Cafe.

Set within a few miles of the bustling maritime resort of Falmouth, nearby beaches, and the tranquil creeks and inlets of Restronguet and Mylor, with easy access to golf courses, tropical gardens and the coast to coast cycle trail, there is much to see and do.

Pond Cottage is ideally situated for exploring west Cornwall.

Stithians has a small Post Office/store for your needs.

For groups of up to four adults Pond Cottage can be booked with Pond Cabin (next door).

Truro is the retail centre of Cornwall with a good range of independent shops as well as national stores all within a compact city centre. With its eclectic range of art galleries, bars, restaurants, cinema, theatre, museum and outstanding cathedral this small city is a superb year round destination. Steeped in history and intriguing architecture there is always plenty to do and see. Just meandering through the Georgian cobbled streets is a pleasure in itself. With many peaceful parks all within a short stroll from the centre it is a most relaxing city to visit. A wonderful day trip can be had from Truro to Falmouth along the stunning Fal estuary with many options to disembark and pick up the boat later along the scenic river trip.
