“The accommodation was clean and comfortable and provided a great base for travelling around areas of Cornwall like Saint Ives, Lands End, Penzance etc.”

“Absolutely lovely cottage!”

“We received a lovely warm welcome from Pete and Ju when we arrived, and a quick tour of the Bowji before we sat down to a delicious complimentary cream tea.”

The Bowji was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need, and more. All the rooms and furnishings were beautifully fresh and clean, and it was a real pleasure for us to return ‘home’ to such a comfortable space after days out. We thoroughly enjoyed our chats with Pete and Ju, they are such a lovely friendly couple, and although living just across the way they were not at all intrusive. All in all our holiday could not have been better, and we would like again to extend our thanks to Pete and Ju for the use of their beautiful Bowji, for their lovely company, and for organising such fabulous weather for our stay!

“Another amazing stay at the beautiful Bowji.”

Pete and Ju are wonderful hosts and keep the accommodation sparkly clean and the Cornish cream tea is a welcome sight after a long journey. The bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable with high quality bedding used. We all slept like logs every night. We like to play card games around the dining table in the evening and always bring our own, but there are plenty of games and jigsaws for those rare rainy days. Saying that, we’re too busy looking at the beautiful area to do jigsaws. The living accommodations is plenty big enough for four people and there is a lovely big side table to put your glass of wine on. Free Wi-Fi, good phone signal and plenty of tv channels to choose from. What more could anyone want? A five minute stroll to the local pub that serves great food and good real ales. Looking forward to our next visit.

“Holiday ruined Son went home on day three!”

His bed was uncomfortable. The owner did make a temp repair as the bed frame was broken but still the mattress wasn’t comfortable. I did try it out. One of the two seater sofas is broken both sofas have ply board underneath. Sitting on the broken one kept tipping you into the corner so constantly leaning. Not at all comfortable. Owner fully aware if this, told us it happened some time ago. The washing machine is old and so noisy in an open plan living space. No good trying to relax or eat with it going, didn’t want to stay in just to do a wash so put it on while doing supper. T.V very small and attached to wall backing onto bedroom so noisy if in bed and others watched it. Yes, we do lots of walking, exploring, reading etc but still do like to chill with a good film. Our bed had a horrible pink old blanket with the silky boarder around it stuffed under the mattress protection. Didn’t feel clean. It is bolstered with blankets to pad it. Sure owner will say different to this. The single beds were an issue as the horrible cheap plastic mattress protectors were clinging to the bottom flat sheet. Sweaty and awkward to keep tucking back down, especially in the night. This didn’t help with the overall bed situation. The milk churn’s recommended by Ju online were to be used as occasional table. Not flat and a pain to drag across the floor. The washer/dryer is definitely no good at drying. There were some shabby puzzles in the place but no decent games. Have rented holiday cottages for many years and only had a problem with one other. Knew our problem wouldn’t be addressed by Sykes short of new beds and sofa rapidly being purchased. Won’t book with Sykes again sadly

The property is a lovely place to stay, very well equipped. A base to reach most places in Cornwall. Although I found the bed I used quite uncomfortable it might just be personal preference. A suggestion would be to have some occasional tables for sitting in the lounge area of an evening. Would very highly recommend this property. Thank you for a lovely stay Ju and Peter.

“What a lovely little find after 12 years of visiting Cornwall we think this is the best yet.”

Location ideal for us, spent most days on the beach, Porthtowan and Holywell, both within easy driving distance. 15 min drive to Mount Hawke Skate Park and easy access to Truro and Falmouth. We enjoyed local walks direct from the property and always looked forward to going back to the property after a busy day. Everything we needed was at the property with nice open plan living and very clean. We wouldn't hesitate in returning. Thank you to Ju and Pete for making us feel so welcome.

The property is very well equipped and the friendly owners have put great thought and effort into ensuring that visitors have a very comfortable stay. It is well located to visit all the lovely sites of west Cornwall, an area we had not visited before. The local pub (The Star at Vogue), just a couple of minutes drive away, offers good food at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed Sunday carvery lunch and several evening meals there, also a very good evening meal at The Treleigh Arms just a few miles further away. We would thoroughly recommend Bowji and if visiting the area in future would look to stay here again.

Great cream tea on arrival after ju and Peter where very helpful and accommodating with a request to leave the car while we went off on the bikes . The bathrooms were nice with large shower cubicles. The power showers are awesome. Everything you cold possibly need is neatly stored. “I could not fault Mynheer Farm Bowji and would highly recommend this cottage and Mynheer Farm Barn, which is the proprietors Ju and Pete's other cottage and is opposite Bowji.”

The cottage was EXCEPTIONALLY clean and it had all the facilities that you could ask for and more, it was beautifully decorated to a high standard and the kitchen was fully equipped with good quality equipment. There was a lovely log burner in the lounge but it wasn't cold enough to light it up but I can imagine sitting there cosying up with it burning away on a cold autumn or winters evening with a glass of wine etc. Actually Christmas or New Year would be lovely spent at Bowji. 3 days prior to our holiday I called Ju ( as requested by Sykes Cottages ) who was extremely friendly and discussed everything with me. I explained that my Mother In Law had restricted mobility and asked if we could have parking as close to the cottage as possible, they couldn't have been anymore accommodating for us. We had a warm and friendly greeting from Ju and Pete on our arrival and they had laid on a scrumptious cream tea in the cottage for us. The location of Mynheer Farm is perfect for accessing a good proportion of Cornwall, with Lands End, north and south Cornwall coast lines within easy reach. We had a weeks holiday and went to Newquay, Padstow, Port Isaac, Falmouth, Lands End, Penzance, St Ives and we meet up with family for a superb meal at the Halfway House Pub in Liskgeard one evening (well worth the 40 minute drive). There is still plenty of things to for us to explore in Cornwall and we will definitely be booking either Mynheer Farm Bowji or Barn when we do.

The position is right to see lots of cornwall which is on your doorstep. The local pub just a short walk away provided good food and drinks. Just right to finish off the day. We hope to return to this part of Cornwall again and would have no hesitation in staying with Ju and Pete again. First class.

We stayed The first week of March 2020 The first thing one notices of course is that the Bowji has convenient parking next to it and off the road. Through the front door everything inside was neat and tidy, all the fittings are of good quality and the kitchen quite well supplied with everything needed for holiday cooking. Both bedrooms are of a good size the bedding spotless, there is storage and hanging for clothing and their adjacent on suite shower rooms whilst compact are big enough. Both showers are of a good size and comfortable to use with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen and living space is nicely spacious with separate areas for dining and relaxing. There is a sound system provided and the tv has a DVD player that the owners provide a selection of DVDs for. The central heating is efficient and whilst we were there quite sufficient. A nice quality wood burner is installed with a basket of wood provided should one need more warmth and ambiance. The cream tea we were served on our arrival was a lovely surprise and very welcome after our long drive. Pete and Ju were excellent hosts and full of information. One point to note; make sure you follow the directions given in the information email as we did not and followed the satnav down the narrowest road in Cornwall! I would definitely recommend this accomodation, well worth a visit.

A lovely couple who were around if you needed them but not intrusive in any way. The local village was a little further than expected but still well served with bars and shops and Redruth was easily accessible by car for bigger shops etc. Although trips to the beaches took a bit longer than anticipated, the cottage is a good base for exploring this area of Cornwall and its attractions.

Peter and Ju were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, even letting us store our bicycles in their shed. They supplied lots of toys for the children to play with outside also. The cottage is in a good location to explore Cornwall and we found most places we wanted to visit about 20-30 minutes drive away! The children aged 11 and 8 loved the beaches and sea and their favourites were Perranporth (about 20 min drive) and Porthtowan (about 15 min drive). We would definitely recommend to friends and family.

The owners are friendly and helpful and met us as we arrived to show us round. A cream tea was waiting for us, including a gluten free version for me. Nothing was to much trouble for Ju and Pete. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything had been thought of; hairdryer, cupboard space for our own food, recycling box and a pint of milk in the fridge. Outside space is also comfortable and clean with a washing line too. I’ve already passed information about Mynheer Farm to friends. We will be back.

Again our stay was fantastic and the owners Ju and Pete can't do enough for you,this really makes the your stay even more enjoyable.Pete also makes jewellery,to a very high standard I might ad,even inviting our eldest daughter to have a go at making her own earrings and a ring under his supervision,these turned out very well.The property is in a beautiful area of Cornwall with many places to go and visit nearby or afar.The standard of the Bowji is without fault,immaculate inside with everything you could want,with everything provided such as a fully functioning kitchen two bathrooms with nice powerful showers that were a joy to be in at the end of the busy days.We will be back again and would recommend these properties to anyone,oh and I nearly forgot,Ju makes some very nice jam and scones.

Originally a cowshed, this fabulous barn conversion has been transformed into a spacious and homely retreat, ideal for families and couples as a base to explore Cornwall's finest hot spot locations. The open-plan sitting room has comfy sofas and a generous wood burner for cooler evenings.

The bright 'conservatory-feel' dining area overlooks the patio edged by beautiful flower borders and the kitchen is modern and well equipped.

Two country-pretty bedrooms guarantee restful slumber and relaxation, both with pristine en-suite shower rooms.

Within a 30 minute drive are the resorts of St Ives, with picturesque harbour, charismatic St Agnes, maritime Falmouth and the cathedral city of Truro.

The local family friendly village pub, which offers good food, and the open air amphitheatre at Gwennap Pit, which holds concerts in summer, are within easy walking distance of Mynheer Farm Bowji.

The local area is steeped in mining history and is a walkers and cyclists paradise with scenic landscape to explore from the doorstep.

REDRUTH

Falmouth 10.5 miles; St Ives 16 miles.

Redruth is a small town in Cornwall, dating in parts from the 12th century. It was once the centre of Cornish mining history and is now at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a selection of shops, pubs and eateries, and the town holds a variety of continental markets throughout the year. Attractions close to Redruth include the Carn Brea Trail, The Great Flat Load, which is fantastic for cyclist and dog walkers alike, Tolgus Tin Stream Works, and the Tehidy Country Park. The beach at Portreath is a 10 minute drive, or 2.5 miles from Redruth. The entire stunning North coast is a suburb playground for surfing and all watersports, with resorts such as St Ives, Falmouth, the Roseland Peninsula and the whole Lizard Peninsula within easy reach.
