“A truly beautiful cottage, everything you could possibly want if you’re looking for a warm, comfy secluded holiday yet within a reasonable access to St Ives and Penzance.”

Good pubs within walking distance too. Beds comfy and a lovely big garden if you have dogs. Aga a bonus!

The property

Newly converted to an excellent standard, Back of Beyond can be found along the St Ives to Land's End coast road at Gurnard's Head (in the hamlet of Treen near Zennor), surveying the expansive seascape from high above the wild and rocky Atlantic shoreline on magnificent tall granite cliffs.

Rated Britain's most scenic stretch of coastline, this is a magical holiday destination so far removed from the demands of modern living.

The landscape here is diverse, rising up sharply from the ocean into a rugged plateau carpeted with thick gorse and bracken, indigenous plants and flowers and open pasture land.

Farm animals pepper the terrain and the mining ruins and ancient stone monuments mystified by folklore will transport you back in time.

It is a superb territory for walkers, cyclists, rock climbers, anglers and naturalists whilst artists, photographers and writers will find it a source of deep inspiration. Back of Beyond is conveniently located for the world-class beaches at Sennen, Porthcurno and St Ives and the landmark attractions of Land's End, St Michael's Mount and The Minack Theatre present opportunities to string together a very memorable holiday experience.

The accommodation is beautifully furnished and the under floor heating and a wood burner ensure that it is comfortable for winter breaks, storm watching and couples seeking a romantic retreat and the chance to be cosseted.

An exceptional feature of this former barn is the patio extending into a large garden with its panoramic views of epic beauty.

The farmhouse style kitchen/diner is equipped with an impressive midnight blue AGA and both bedrooms provide generous proportions and en-suite bathrooms, fitted with a bath and separate shower.

There is parking for two cars and an award winning pub/restaurant on the doorstep.

About the location

ST IVES

Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!

Note: This property can only accept Friday-Friday bookings over Xmas and New year period, please contact office for prices.
Note: Although property mostly on one level internally there are two steps up to bedroom and one step up to twin room en suite.
