“We really enjoyed our stay at Apple Loft.”

Vicky and Chris were both very welcoming and we loved being able to explore the farm and see the animals. Thankyou for allowing the children to participate in daily jobs with the chickens and horses! The cream tea was a welcome treat too!

The property

Within easy reach of stunning fishing villages, beaches and vibrant coastal resorts, The Apple Loft nestles amidst woodland and fields on a working farm on the beautiful Boconnoc Estate.

Guests can wander around the orchard and farmyard, surrounded by fabulous country views and watch or feed the lambs, cattle, horses, sheep, chickens and ducks.

There is even stabling and grazing for guests to bring their own horses!

Enjoy the rural paradise with a picnic in the fields or take a stroll along the quiet traffic free lanes.

The small village of Lerryn is just three miles away with a family friendly pub and store.

Within a short drive are the delights of Fowey, fabulous with harbour, restaurants, traditional inns and art galleries.

Hop aboard the passenger ferry across the azure waters to Polruan.

The iconic fishing village of Polperro is a must visit destination with eateries and pubs huddled around the quayside and the fishing port of Looe with stretch of sandy beach can be reached by an amble around the scenic coastal footpath.

Lostwithiel, the ancient capital of Cornwall is six miles westwards and the market town of Liskeard is eight miles to the east.

With excellent golf courses, stately homes, castles, steam railways, sub-tropical gardens and rugged moorland - there is an attraction for all ages.

The Apple Loft, originally the home of the cider press, offers characterful accommodation on the east wing of the owner's farmhouse.

The open-plan living room has a curved wall and ceiling beams and the master galleried bedroom is accessed by steep stairs.

The low beams in the small twin bedroom make it ideal for children - they will adore the quirkiness.

The dinky enclosed garden at the rear is perfect for alfresco dining.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
