“On the surface the cottage was as advertised.”

But when we stepped inside to a cold cottage we were disappointed, that knowing our arrival time 4pm, the owners had not thought to put the electric heating on for us. To then read in book that we could NOT alter the heating settings, instead have to light the Wood burner to keep warm we were not happy . To then read in book that we could NOT alter the heating settings, instead have to light the Wood burner to keep warm we were not happy . I have Asthma, so having had conversations with you about the Duck feather duvet, which you had resolved, did not want to light a fire. On the Sunday after 2 cold nights my husband contacted Louise and she allowed us to alter Heating times. The fact that both radiators were behind furniture, which we pulled out had not helped. Storage of our food was in 2 small baskets in the unit , not adequate. maybe a cupboard instead of a picture above would be better. The heated Towel rail wasn't on and we were told by Louise the switch was on the other side of the panel. These things could all have been written down somewhere. The travel instructions were inadequate and only applied if we had come over The Tamar Bridge, we hadn't.

The property

A little slice of heaven, Polly’s Bower is a luxurious, dog-friendly retreat for couples set in beautiful rolling Cornish countryside with sensational far-reaching views and an elegant outdoor heated pool.

A unique venue, this exquisite conversion of a 300 year old apple crushing barn is situated in south-east Cornwall between the villages of Landrake and Tideford near the city of Plymouth.

It occupies a tranquil and tucked away location, amid a patchwork of fields and wooded valleys, yet is a hop from the Cornish Riviera coastline and beaches and the Tamar Valley, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Detached and well-screened from the owners neighbouring farmhouse, it is nicely private and makes the perfect escape at anytime of year.

Enter the spacious open plan living room and discover a tasteful blend of the modern and the rustic.

Oak wood floors, exposed beams, modern art, soft lamps and a deep rug adds to the comfort, elegance and style.

A deep sofa and armchair adorned with coordinated cushions and throws sits beside a wood burner and there are books, DVDs and board games for cosy nights in.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with gadgets aplenty including a Nespresso coffee machine.

Romantic suppers can be enjoyed at the dining table set within an inglenook or on the south-facing patio during the warmer months and watch the sun set.

A sumptuous bed dressed with plump pillows and soft cotton bed linens awaits in the first floor bedroom.

An intimate and open plan design, a low wall separates the bed area from the bathroom area with its free-standing bath, sleek shower and a loo tucked into the corner.

Expect to relax and be pampered with White Company hand and bath towels, luxurious toiletries, cotton bathrobes and slippers.

A stable door provides access to external steps.

Convenient for explorers, you are not far from visitor hotspots at Looe, Polperro, Fowey, Cawsand and Kingsand and the long sandy beach and scenic coast path at Whitsand Bay.

Scenic walks can commence from the front door along green lanes and field paths through meadows and woods with pleasant river views.

Stop for a refreshment at the nearby pub, The Rod and Line, or Heskyn Mill restaurant, return to your sweet cottage and cosset yourself in luxury.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
