“Very nice property - very cosy.”

The only downside for me is the bed is poor quality. Wonderful setting with a fantastic pool. Lovely and quiet. No WiFi at all, but not a problem for us.

The property

Daisy Lodge stands in a large meadow overlooking a dreamlike countryside setting and offers the ultimate rural retreat for couples and families.

Built in 2012, this Scandinavian style lodge with every comfort including a shared 40ft heated swimming pool, is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Trewidland.

It is a real get away from it all location yet accessible to the coast, quiet beaches and fascinating coastal towns and villages including Looe, Polperro and Fowey. Approached along a private tree lined drive, guests have access to a path (for their sole use) to the swimming pool and ample parking.

Sitting in the meadow hidden from the view of the owners' country house and Cider Cottage, Smugglers Cottage and Sam's Cabin (available for individual/group bookings).

The sheltered verandah is equipped with table/chairs and a bench which can be used to sit out on the meadow and relax with a novel from the bookshelf.

Parents and children will also appreciate the swings, slide, playhouse and picnic tables positioned away from the lodge and provided for all guests.

It is level access to the entrance which opens onto an open plan living room presented with a well-equipped, gloss white kitchen, plump settee and arm chairs, attractive artwork and games, DVD's and CD's.

Well insulated with double glazing and soft carpeting, it is ideal for romantic winter breaks and guests arriving in spring will see the sheep with their new lambs in neighbouring fields as bird song fills the air.

There is a king size bed dressed in soft, pretty bed linens, the memory foam mattresses in the bunk bedroom will suit both adults and children.

A memorable experience awaits with expansive beaches at Whitsand Bay, the vibrant naval city of Plymouth, the awe inspiring gardens at the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the National Trust owned Lanhydrock, Cotehele and Antony House within easy driving distance.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Note: Sorry no pets.

Note: The heated swimming pool and adjoining garden and patio is shared between guests at Trehalvin and is open from May to 21st September. Children must be supervised at all times.
