Although set in such rural surroundings a short drive will take you to the year round dog friendly Black Rock beach at the southern end of Widemouth Bay which itself is a Blue Flag beach, is long and sandy, popular with both families and surfers, with its own Surf School.
Widemouth itself also has a selection of shops, pubs and an Italian restaurant, perfect to visit after a day at the beach.
Further along the coast from here is the award winning resort of Bude with superb facilities and wonderful beaches.
For those sporting enthusiasts there are many golf courses in the area including Trethorne, Launceston, Bude, St Mellion, and a seven course complex at The Ashbury Okehampton.
